  • QEII PLAYING FIELD TREE FELLING

    Assisted by parish volunteers, the diseased ash tree in the park was felled in one piece by our local tree surgeon last Saturday on the grounds of public safety.

    While still looking healthy to the casual observer, the ivy growth round the trunk disguised a severe case of ash tree die-back, which had caused a couple of large branches to fall off into a resident’s garden.

    The timber was cut into suitable pieces and piled up for parishioners to collect as firewood, and the leaf and twig debris fully chipped and taken away.

    Councillors will discuss replacing the ash tree with a suitable native species example at our September meeting.
