Following the recent Annual Playground Inspection, the Parish Council has today securely fenced off the defective swing and climbing frame on the QEII playing field.
Our sincere thanks to Lewis at Norfolk Land Development for the free loan of their fencing from the Church Road housing development. It’s very much appreciated.
Sorry to be killjoys, but once we were notified of the defects, we have no choice but to make sure the equipment can’t be used.
The plastic tape obviously wasn’t a viable solution, so the Council decided last week that while the swings would get repaired, the climbing frame was too complex to fix and would be removed. Repairing it would be an ongoing cost every year and a false economy.
In the meantime, we can’t allow anyone to use the kit as we would be negligent and wouldn’t be insured. Our principal concern is always childrens’ safety.

We’re getting prices for revamping that entire area, and would welcome suggestions for what new equipment users would like to see. Currently we’re looking at maybe two smaller climbers more suitable for our users; the existing one is too high and bulky for most children to safely get to the top.
Let us know if you have any ideas or proposals and – for the moment – please keep your children away from the fenced off areas.
The rest of the park remains open as usual and we want to get everything sorted before the summer holidays.
