Our Annual Playground Inspection has highlighted issues with some of the timber elements of the twin bay swing and the climbing frame.
Both are now approaching the end of their fifteen year design life and it’s no surprise to find that the timber is rotting in places and needs to be replaced.
The inspector taped off the offending areas and we ask that these are not used until solutions are put in place. The Parish Council has a range of options to consider – partial replacement, complete replacement or replacing with a different piece of equipment altogether. Budgets are being drawn up now and manufacturers are preparing quotations.
We are, of course, examining warranties to see if there is any recourse available and also looking at grant funding.
Inevitably, there will be a delay before the work is done, but we can’t remove the climbing frame to prevent its use – so we’re asking parents to help us in telling children NOT to use it until it’s fixed.
Please bear with us while we take corrective action as quickly as we can.
